Loosen up and take delight in relaxation
By Aaron Lee
Loosening up is actually a habit. We ought to nurture this habit and take delight in relaxation whenever we can so that we do not accumulate too much pressure.□ High pressure makes your entire body burn out and can even lead to disease.□ However, it is not an easy task to cultivate this habit. It takes time to practice. Gradually, the task will become less difficult. The following are a few ways to breed this habit.
Remind yourself to loosen up in your day-to-day life
When you wake up in the morning, do not hasten to get up right away. Instead, take some deep breaths while lying in the bed. Doing so can help you loosen up your entire body. In order to remind yourself not to get up immediately after waking up, you may want to write in capital letters words such as “Relax and take it easy” on a large piece of paper and stick it to your ceiling before you go to bed the night before.□ You will surely see these words when you wake up on the next morning. As a result, you will remember to slow down and take it easy.
When you are about to leave home, look at yourself in the mirror and smile to yourself. This only takes a moment but it can encourage you and make you loosen up. Again, you can stick a note on the door the night before just to remind yourself. When you see it the next day, you will remember instantly and be ready to leave home in a soothing mode.
Through these steps, you set up a number of checkpoints to calm down in your day-to-day schedule. Each stage takes merely one to two minutes. Within each checkpoint, you establish a mechanism of self-reminder. Slowly but surely, you are able to generate a habit of taking it easy.
Remind yourself in a crisis
We take delight in relaxation whenever we can on the course of our day-to-day routine. In addition, we ought to learn to calm down in a crisis. In life or work, we can easily get nervous during a crisis. Thus we need to pay more attention to the art of relaxation under an urgent situation.
To produce such a habit hinges on a similar mechanism of self-remindering. For example, you can write on your screen saver words like “Do not type fast, the computer will burn out.” or “Do not talk fast, the brain will collapse.” When you are faced with a crisis, you will stop acting uneasily because you see the reminder on your screen saver and learn to relax and take it easy.
Additionally, you can engrave on your mug words such as “Drink slowly and mind the boiling water.” or “ Drink slowly, do not choke yourself.” You can also stick some notes on your office desk and notepad to help ring a bell in your mind. If you are a motorist, prepare some notes on your driver’s seat or steering wheel. Write things like “Drive slowly” or simply one word, “Slow!” These are all useful means to remind yourself.
Friendly reminder from your buddies
Look for some good buddies or coworkers to remind each other to slow down. Make an agreement among the group not to act in a hurry. When one member breaks the accord, tell him. This way, all members within the group do not get jumpy and instead take delight in relaxation.
